Danny introduced the speaker Olga Vashakmadze
Olga Vashakmadzi represents the Rotary Club Kyiv Business International, which was established in 2020. Olga is one of the founders of the club. Most members are from or connected with international business, ex-pats, and local businesspeople. They have known each other for many years. After the war started, unfortunately, more than half of the members left the country and the club. Today, they can handle small projects like Smart Aid
Note: Olga's original purpose in visiting us was not to do a presentation but to meet to see how we operate in Canada and have a social afternoon. Gordon had asked her to present, and she agreed, which was very good of her on short notice.
Olga is originally from Georgia, her mother is a Ukrainian MD, and her father is Georgian. He graduated from the Air Force Academy in St Petersburg and was a Colonel of the USSR Army as a chief construction engineer. Olga relocated to Ukraine in 2001 to open a company. She has been working in international freight forwarding and logistics in a few CIS countries, most of her experience is in Ukraine.
Olga spoke to us about the activities of the Rotary Club of Kyiv and gave us a glimpse into the situation in their city.

Danny presented Olga with a pennant from our club.

Gerd announced that he had received a $10,000.00 donation to the club from a business associate. Once again Gerd steps up. He did however tarnish this by telling one of his Dad jokes which he said was a faux PA!
