Habitat For Humanity
The Charity started in 1991 to assist families of modest means.
Their Vision is to build decent homes for people of modest means who need assistance to live a reasonable life.
Their mission includes:
               Encouraging volunteers.
Resell the Product.
               Raise monies for their projects.
A successful candidate for their projects must be subjected to a vigorous vetting process:
Ability to make payments on an interest-free mortgage
Must donate at least 500 hours to the charity
No more that 30% of their income be used to pay down the mortgage which is amortized over 20 years.
At least 78% of families who purchase these homes end up having a much better family life and upgrades to their children’s health and education.
The Scarborough Project is on Pinery Trail
They have built 85 homes across Canada so far.
There are vigorous rules related to ownership, potential sale, use of property, etc.
The presentation was followed by a number of very interesting questions and informative answers
The North Scarborough Rotary Club presented  a cheque to the Habitat presenters for $2,000 which was sponsored by the following:
$1,000 from Arthur and his children in memory of his wife, who was a very dedicated volunteer when they live in Sault Ste Marie.
$500 from Gerd’s company, as always a very generous supporter of the Rotary causes.
The balance from our Club.
Arthur thanked the three individuals for their very interesting and informative presentation.

Joke of the day:
  1. A guy goes in for a job interview and sits down with the boss.
The boss asks him, “What do you think is your worst quality?”
The man says “I’m probably too honest.”
The boss says, “That’s not a bad thing, I think being honest is a good quality.”
The man replies, “I don’t care about what you think!”
