eBay Auction
  • There is a meeting of the eBay auction committee and all members are asked to attend and help.
  • Need more auction items.  We have 26 and need several hundred.
  • Auction will run every week for 5 weeks starting the last week in October.
  • eBay Auction is much more demanding: 1) need very complete descriptions of items 2) need many photos 3) need to address shipping instructions.
  • Gift cards are desirable as they are easy to mail.
  • we need promotional material (how to do the Auction, how to sponsor}
Jacqueline Smith is the Volunteer Coordinator.

Happy Bucks and Fines

Peter Masson was happy to return from Central and Eastern Europe.  He said there was a big difference between former capitalist vs communist countries in terms of state of repair.

Jim Boyco, suggested that Bill Morneau might be happier to be in Europe than Canada given off shore holdings.

Dave Hardy was happy because his daughter was in Bhutan, with the Bhutan travel agency picking up her; in country expenses.  In the last month she had been both in the Andes and Himalayas.

Gerd Wengler was happy because he finally cancelled his land line, and associated charges.

Speaker
Jackie Davies from the Toronto Club and member of the Host Organizing Committee gave an update on the 2018 International Conference.  They are looking for people who wish to provide home hospitality.  They are expecting 35,000 people and the Convention will feature world class entertainment.  The Conference is June 23 to 27th 2018.  All Rotarians will be needed.  There will be lots of breakout sessions on various topics.  The ‘House of Friendship’ started at the 1924 Toronto Conference.  The Conference will feature a huge ribfest on the CNE grounds.  There will be more activities at the Distillery District. Four other Districts are assisting 6330, 7010, 7080 and 7090.  All of the hotels are already booked.  There are opportunities for exhibitors and sponsors.  HOC needs on site volunteers and ambassadors.  1200 volunteers from 7070 including family and friends.  Home hospitality night is June 25th and venues could include a boat dinner or going out to dinner as 2 couples.
