Speaker:  President Danny Cassidy

Gerd introduced President Danny (which Gerd attempted to do with a Scottish accent). Danny spoke about his annual ‘Ride to Conquer Cancer’

Danny showed a video explaining what cancer is, https://youtu.be/6Fp83KTFZFI?si=IRQTBH20AmQOxh38
followed by a slide outlining the increase in cancer cases over recent years and the projected rise in the years ahead. He also highlighted the tremendous improvements in survival rates due to research.

Danny explained why hospitals still need to raise funds and gave examples of essential equipment, research, and patient-support needs that are not fully covered by government funding.
The presentation linked below outlines these and also how Danny fundraises, how he prepares physically for the 200 km ride, and how he also takes part in the 75 km Bike for Brain Health the week before the cancer ride. It also includes photos and statistics from the 2025 ride, along with the total amount raised last year.

Now 75, Danny is training to participate again this year and has set a fundraising goal of $5,000.00.
