Announcements-

-Past President Jacob Lakirovich announced that the SPO/Rotary Concert will be held on May 3, 2014, at the Salvation Army Citadel in Scarborough. It will be featuring the violin ensemble.  The tickets will be half the price of last year, as there will not be a VIP Reception prior to the concert. The pre-concert talk will be held

-Mike Mushet announced that Group 4 will be donating $1000 to “Free the Children”, this year. Craig and Marc Kielburger are co-founders of this organization. Last year the Kielburgers were inducted into Canada’s “Walk of Fame” for their humanitarian efforts and their work to empower youth to change the world. Their original focus was against child labour. They are now busy building schools in Haiti, Africa, China etc. The organization holds “We Day” which focuses on volunteerism and youth.  “We Days” have taken place in Toronto, Vancouver, Seattle etc. Ninety percent of all donations go to the front line.

Marbelous Draw- Charles Whitney did the honours and Carolyn Nicholson held the lucky ticket. Unfortunately, she was unable to locate the mutant marble among the mass of available choices.

Sergeant at Arms-Jacob gave us a reprieve and moved directly to Happy Bucks.

Happy Bucks- Gerd Wengler was happy that he set his eyes on his wife in August 1994, but he was also sad because he will have to take care of himself, while Dorothy is away visiting her father, for two whole weeks. Gerd also felt that he had a good theory as to what happened to the missing plane.

-Donna Ryce had a happy $20 as she is delighted to be beginning her retirement with six weeks in Florida.

-Carolyn Nicholson was happy to have had a chance at the mutant marble and that her floors are finished.

-Gordon was happy as he and Sue just returned from a great vacation in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and that Chelsey is in the quarter finals.

-Madhavi Chandrasekaran was happy that her daughter’s school placement has been finalized and was anxious to hear what happened to the plane.

- Emanuel Nwankwo was glad to be back. He thinks that he can manage two meetings a month with his new schedule.

-Jack Holman was happy to see Donna Ryce.

-Charles Whitney was his usual happy self.

Program-

There was no speaker scheduled for today, so we decided to explore some of the many theories as to what happened to the missing plane.

Gerd's theory was that it was aliens.

Mike’s theory was that it was hijacked, as it was transporting a large amount of Chinese gold, and somehow the secret got out.

Some members felt that perhaps some of the more powerful countries already know what has happen and are just not saying.

Jim’s theory was that CNN was running out of news and needed a good story.

Consensus was ½ and ½ that the plane would be found on land or at sea.

President Rocco thanked the participants and closed the meeting.
