3. Dhanni, who has just returned from their 7 week holiday “down under” reported that she is now readjusting to winter and will soon have all charitable tax receipts prepared and out to all concerned. She brought back a fuzzy Koala too!
Marbelous Draw:
Rocco Colangelo conducted the 50/50 draw Peter was the lucky 2nd prize winner
Sergeant At Arms: Dhanni Ramdeen went directly to Happy Bucks offered up by:
Arthur who was happy that his son, Dr. Ravi Retnakaran, Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a clinical scientist who led the study is now in “Seventh Heaven” because of all the publicity that has been generated by their research: why fewer boys than normally occur were born after the election of Donald Trump four years ago. (It was a shock to more than just the ladies who were 20 to 25 weeks into their pregnancies!)
Rocco was happy with Arthur's story.
Avrum was happy to be off soon to the Barbados for a vacation.
Peter was happy to donate his $5 prize for not picking the mutant marble from the 50/50 draw.
PROGRAM: Trip to Bahamas
In the absentia of our scheduled speaker today:
Past President and Assistant District Governor Gerd Wengler was called on by Barry to give a “hurry up, if you can” presentation concerning his recent trip to the Bahamas with his wife Dorothy and their flying dog Sadie.
Their flight path included an overnight stop in Florida and a reunion with Tony and Margaret Baker who are vacationing in the Florida sun this winter. Then they took a hop over to Eleuthera where they re-connected with their old friends at the Eleuthera Rotary Club.
Gerd then described Hurricane Dorian was an extremely powerful and devastating Category 5 Atlantic hurricane, that became the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, and is regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country's history. It stalled over the Grand Bahama Island for 24 hours with winds of 295 kph (185 mph) and damage has been estimated at US $3.4 billion and caused 70 deaths and another 282 people were left missing after the storm. The Governor of District 7020 which covers most of the Bahamas and beyond includes 83 clubs located in 10 countries. She visits all of the clubs during her term of office.
Pictures of the destruction as well as their visit were shown on the slide show link attached.
