Presentation from Canadian Blood Services Territory Manager Hailu Mulatu
Dhanni introduced our speaker today, Hailu Mulatu from Canadian Blood Services. He told us that this year 900,000 units of blood are needed. There are 422,000 active donors and the CBS goal is to attract 90,000 new donors. In 2016 their goal is to attract 100,000 new donors and have 500,000 active donors. He asked us to think about what we do in one hour – watch a favourite TV show, have a coffee with a friend etc. – it takes just an hour to donate blood as well. He then introduced us to Canadian Blood Services ‘Partners For Life’ Program whereby Rotary can ‘attract’ new blood donors. Details of the program and more information can be found at their website: www.blood.ca

There being no further business, President Madhavi closed the meeting.
