Program-

Our newest member, Roland List was prepared to give his classification talk but unfortunately we could not locate a projector for his presentation. His talk has been rescheduled for October 30, 2013.

Madhavi invited the members to take this opportunity to share anything interesting that had been going on, with the members.

Gerd Wengler opened by announcing that what he had to tell was confidential. He assured us that the names and places had been changed to protect the venture. Then….he closed the door.

Some time ago he had made the acquaintance of a young man who was working on this Masters in Saskatchewan. Gerd and Nikito shared an interest in planes and became good friends. Nikito accepted a job in South Africa, where he did very well for himself. After a time he grew restless and went out on his own, flying engineering parts to job sites, in his plane. His fleet grew to three planes and again he prospered. As luck would have it, he met a beautiful lady on a plane and they fell in love and were married. Her job required her to relocate to the States and her employer would relocate and retrain her husband as part of the deal. So away they went.

Nikito installed video cameras on and in his plane and started to make training videos which he uploaded to U tube. In due course he started receiving cheques from Google representing an advertising commission. Then…he received a mysterious call. He was told of a job that he was being considered for, and the people involved wanted to meet with him. He was suspicious, but he thought that he would see where it would lead. He met with the principles at a hotel, only to realize that he was being considered for a job as pilot, for a sheikh. He was invited to be their guest for four weeks, all expenses paid plus a six thousand dollar stipend, to consider the position.

Tune in for the final installment…. in another Rotateller

Madhavi was second up. She informed us that as of October 11, 2013 she will be leaving British Airways.

She is looking for a new position. She is fluent in English and German, with some French.  Her area of expertise is sales and marketing but with her latest degrees she has quite a large field. She asked that anyone with leads please contact her.

Please ask Arthur Retnakaran about his newfie joke.

Jacob shared an experience that he had while in Italy. Jacob had befriended a violin maker while in Italy. His son’s violin needed repair so he commissioned Mr. Gonzales to repair it for him. While visiting with another friend (a great Jazz pianist), he learned that Mr. Gonzales had a secret under his studio, and he was asked if he could find out what it was.

During the next visit with Mr. Gonzales, Jacob inquired about the secret. Mr. Gonzales told him that he hadn’t talked about this in years, but that he would share it with him. They walked to the back of the studio and headed down into the basement. They crossed the room to another door. When they opened this door they were greeted by a stone stairway that descended another hundred steps at least.

They pass through what had once been the workshop of Stradivari, and Mr. Gonzales told him that while he was working there he had often seen ghosts watching him. Some of his students had refused to go down to the workshop for that reason.  As they continued down the stairs, Jacob noticed that the temperature was steadily dropping. Finally, they stopped and they were standing on what appeared to by a Roman tiled floor. They were at the entrance to the catacombs and the corridor which led to the Duomo’s residence. Mr. Gonzales pointed out the chains on the walls and informed Jacob that they were actually on the site of a prison ( 13th-14th century) and that thousands of  prisoners had been executed on that very spot. What an experience!

Frank Allison took a moment to remind everyone of the perils of Autism and the great need for support for research as there is so little known about it. Autism affects one in one hundred people.

Needless to say if you were not here…..You missed it

A great time was had by all.
