Paul Harris Scholarship Awards Banquet

Five Rotary Clubs in Scarborough join together to present $2,500 Scholarships to six Scarborough students.
A gathering of nearly 90 Rotarians and their guests met at the Delta Toronto East hotel on Wednesday evening, June 4th. The occasion was to present $2,500 scholarships to each of the six graduating students chosen from 19 applicants for the Paul Harris Rotary Scholarship program. All applicants were from Scarbourgh high schools. They were judged on their demonstrated leadership skills and involvement in their school and extracurricular communities.
The students were presented to the audience by members of the jury drawn from the five Rotary clubs which joined together to underwrite the program.
This year was the 17th annual awards event that Rotary has sponsored for Scarborough students. Porter C.I., Debbie McQuoid for Ursela Huang of Stephen Leacock C.I., Chris Musselman for Shanel Jaggon of Cardinal Newman C.H.S., Arthur Retnakaran for Munzir Rahman of R.H.King Academy, and Ashton Ward for Ramna Safeer of Delphy Secondary Alternative School.

The program also included a special presentation by Tasnim Anwar, a past president of the Rotaract Club of the University of Toronto, Scarborough ON. Rotaract brings together people ages 18-30 in universities and communities worldwide to organize service activities, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun. The meeting was concluded oby Chris Musselman on behalf of the Rotary Club of Scarborough which will be hosting the 2015 Scholarship Awards Dinner.
