Remember  No Meeting on July 2nd
We will be cleaning up after Ribfest 2014

Anthem: Carolyn Nicholson
Grace: Gordon Brown
Toast: Rocco Colangelo

Attendance: 19, including 4 guests: Prospecting member – Mandy Nwobu, and  Donna Salamalay, Julia Bubrin, Lillian Colangelo.

Announcements:

  • President Rocco read out a “Thank You” card from Joan Masson. Joan recently suffered from a “stuttering stroke” affecting the right side of her body. Joan is at home and is doing very well now, thank God.  In fact she wrote the card herself.
  • Julia Bubrin announced that the Scarborough Renewal project had their first town hall meeting on Tuesday night. It was a successful meeting. The next one is scheduled for some time in September.

Next meeting on July on July 2nd is cancelled.  Instead, members are asked to come out and help with the cleanup at the Ribfest location.

Marbelous Draw: Basil was awarded the consolation prize of $5.

Sargeant at Arms – Alan Meridith

The coffer was heavy today with Alan fining most of the members for not knowing the names of the next RI president and his spouse.

Happy Bucks from:

  • Peter and our new president Madhavi for the recovery of Joan Masson.
  • Basil will be happy when the coming weekend Ribfest is over
  • Frank was happy to see the “big” female turnout. There were six of us.
  • Rocco for the upcoming birthday of Lillian

Our outgoing President, Rocco gave his final report. He had a wonderful year, it was better the second time around.  The directors did a marvelous job in their roles. He promised the District to end the year with an additional 2-4 members. There were 4 new members; 1 resignation and 1 honorary member. The speakers were of high caliber and hope to have a consistently better attendance in the new year. The District Governor was pleased with his performance and he wished our new President Maddy a great year.

THANK YOU PRESIDENT ROCCO FOR A FABULOUS YEAR!!

The Presidential plaque and past president pin were presented to Rocco by Madhavi.

A special “Thank You” to Lillian for her support to our President Rocco and to our club.

Roasting of the President:

  • Jim Boyko – Thanked Rocco for a job well done and thank Basil for his hard work for the Ribfest.  He wished Madhavi a great year.
  • No buns were flying, this is a testament of a good President, said Frank Allison.
  • According to Jack Holman, he checked with Barry Smith and there is no bi-law to preclude Rocco for being the president for a third time.
  • Basil not sure if Rocco chose him for the position as “Director at large” because of his size. Ha-ha. Basil indicated that Rocco has done an outstanding job and his enthusiasm for Rotary is hard to match. He invited Rocco to consider the third time around and may consider a new role for Rocco …”Director at small”.
  • Madhavi thanked Rocco for a great year.

Basil spoke on Ribfest Kick-off

  • Set up is this Friday. Ribfest starts on Saturday, June 28 to Tuesday, July 1.
  • Every member is needed and asked members to give Rocco and Charles your availability times to help out.
  • There will be 120 student volunteers and we need to supervise these students in areas of table cleaning, garbage pick-up, parking, check people at the gate, etc..
  • We need to put on our “ASK” caps and request donations from participants. Last year, Etobicoke collected $200K in donations alone.
  • Ribfest Flyers will be handed out at the “Taste of Asia” event this weekend to boost attendance at the Ribfest.
  • We make our money from the sale of beer, pop, water, food vendors, ribbers and sponsors.
  • There will be VIP tents.  Entrance fee of $8.pp. so that they can view the FIFA matches underway and receive special service.
  • Bring your friends and bring your families and tell everyone you know.
  • Looking forward to see everyone and having a good crowd, and good weather.
  • President Madhavi (2014/15) presents Past President's plaque to President RoccoImage
