The Rotary Club of North Scarborough was able to donate 8,446 pairs of shoes, valued at $25,000, to orphanages, and other aid groups in Haiti , with the help of Judy Irving and her organization OneXOne.The shoes were donated by the Tai Lung Group.

Many came together to make this a successful project including Paul Sorley, Catherine Tisdalle,  Air Canada and Art Nicholson, Vice-president of Tai Lung who was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow in appreciation for his contribution.

Paul Sorley put us in touch with Catherine Tisdelle, who enabled us to take the shoes that Tai Lung Group had so generously offered us and have them delivered to the children and those in need in Haiti, after the catastrophic earthquake on January 12, 2010.

The Rotary Club of North Scarborough was able to donate 8,446 pair of ocean shoes, valued at $25,000, to orphanages, and other aid groups in Haiti , with the help of Judy Irving and her organization OneXOne. The shoes were donated by Tai Lung Group, and began their journey to Haiti on April 12, 2010 , when they were picked up and taken to the airport. Air Canada supplied transportation for the shoes. By June 7th, two shipments had arrived in Haiti .

Unfortunately, it wasn't until February 2011 that the shipment was completed, as medical and other supplies took priority. We have confirmed delivery and pictures, which were passed around for everyone to see. Art Nicholson, Vice-president of Tai Lung, was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow, last June, during our Charter Party, in appreciation for his contribution.
